Bob and Anita Horwood of Plymouth, Michigan were the spring 2000 Country Folk Art Festival's featured artisans. Bob Horwood left a teaching career in 1986 to become a full-time tinsmith after his wife, Anita, began studying tin painting techniques. While Horwood, recognized among America's top 10 tinsmiths, has created objects that range from a three-inch candle holder to huge chandeliers, his specialty is reproducing antique lighting fixtures. Anita Horwood specializes in the Scandinavian decorative art called rosemaling as well as tole painting and has perfected her own line of hand-dipped beeswax candles.
